We Are Powerful
Building Communities of Informed Action
inForum initiative creates collaborative spaces where politics, tech, and
entrepreneurship converge to empower citizens with the tools for social change
The world is moving faster than ever before. Global forces are influencing local decisions. There is uncertainty about what’s next — jobs, opportunities, and social welfare — and it is driving us apart as a society. Our trust in democracy is eroding because we don’t see the fruits of our efforts and, thus, we are not engaged as citizens.
It doesn’t have to be this way. We’re better than that, Canada. There’s more than enough talent and determination among us to guarantee that our democracy includes all of us. We are in a new age of real-time globalization, like it or not, and we have to work hard to see to it that no one is left behind.
inForum initiative believes that we can embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship to resolve our social issues – opportunities to apply emerging technologies to reach across our differences. We can close the distance — between each other, between our elected officials, between global forces and local needs. We are citizen changemakers. Together, we are powerful.
inForum initiative works towards implementing electoral reform in a Canadian context
through media content, technology solutions, and local events
inForum seeks to understand the relationship between trade, tech and employment, and how these pillars affect economic development. What gaps are exposed from trade? How do we make sure our employment levels keep up with technological advances? We will produce content that underscores the importance of each, and how we can ensure that all three pillars can help raise our collective wealth in an inclusive way.
inForum believes that emerging technologies have a role to play in elevating our democracy. By embracing a technology such as Blockchain, we can create a robust voting infrastructure, and apply its technical uses to decentralize policy decisions that affect our everyday lives. We believe that Toronto, as the spiritual centre of Blockchain, can be an early adopter and a global leader in implementing a system that is transparent and accountable to all its users, to all its citizens.
inForum wants to address the increasingly-apparent negative repercussions of political echo-chambers. We’ve walled ourselves off into different camps, staked out our territories, and have declared war on “the others.” Forget political correctness and bigotry. Forget liberal or conservative. These labels do nothing to make our world better. inForum seeks to tackle the issues that matter to us as people, independent of our affiliations. We will host events and socials to bring people of different stripes together to have focused conversations without judgement. Leave your prejudices and biases at home. This is how we build a better world.
